I installed VS 2012 Pro (with update 1) in a Windows 8 VM (VMware Fusion for Mac OSX). For some reason, I can create projects, as long as they do not load EntityFramework 5. Any project that loads it will become stuck and I have no choice but to kill VS 2012 process. I did a full repair in Settings / Control Panel, no effect. This is preventing me from working on MVC 4 projects. Very annoying.
Repro Steps:
1. Open VS 2012
2. Choose Create project
3. Create an MVC 4 c# application, basic application
4. I get stuck with status bar showing loading EntityFramework.5.0.0
Actual Results:
I get stuck (system says process running in background, but takes 10+ minutes with no progress) with status bar showing loading EntityFramework.5.0.0
Expected Results:
A project with proper setup is created for MVC 4 for c#, basic template
Comments: Please re-open this issue. This is a huge bug at the moment with our developers as we use VMWare for our developer environments. VS2012 Update 4 still has not addressed this.
