Attached is the edmx file that can reproduce the issue. Open this file with VS2012 Update1. Click on the warnings displayed in the bottom. Attached is the file for assert as well.
Comments: After the change above it turned out that efobject could never be null at that stage (it had just been assigned to artifact if it was null and we'd checked artifact was not null earlier). So removed the assert (and the if that checked the same thing). Fixed with #b094612.
